Modern Science and Classical Liberalism
I’ve just uploaded a draft of my paper “Modern Science and Classical Liberalism,” which offers an introductory analysis of how modern science and classical liberalism came to be associated and why they still resist detachment today. The paper touches on Machiavelli, Bacon, Descartes, Hobbes, and Locke, and it ends by suggesting that Herodotus might be the ancient author best suited to address the ever-increasing crisis plaguing the liberal order. The paper is ~5k words.
I’m circulating the draft in order to solicit comments and suggestions from those more familiar with the subject matter. You can send those to me at alexpriou@gmail.com. Also, please feel free to forward this email to anyone who might be interested. And encourage them to subscribe to my substack here.
